Ahly coach Hossam El-Badry has said he did not expect the poor performance of Turkish side Antalya during the friendly that finished with a 7-0 win for the Egyptian giants.
"We are working on returning the players to their previous level of performance after a long spell of rest so we decided to start the Turkish camp by facing a weaker team," El-Badry said after the friendly.
"I hope the coming two friendlies will be better than the opener, as we will face Russian side Arina, then Saudi giants Al-Wehda," he added.
"Our camp in Turkey is important for returning the players to full fitness before the coming season," Ahly's coach stated.
Ahly, the record winners of Africa’s premier club competition with six titles under their belt, smashed Turkish outfit Antalya 7-0 in the opening friendly of their training camp prior to their match against Mazembe in the CAF Champions League Group stage on 8 June.
